Jason Hope Fights Aging By Supporting SENS

Entrepreneur and investor Jason Hope, has recently taken an interest in the SENS Research Foundation, an organization concerned with stopping the aging process and extending human life; indefinitely. The SENS research foundation offers a Rejuvenation Biotechnology Conference once a year that seeks to revolutionize the Rejuvenation Biotechnology Industry to include modern technologies which incorporate therapy that has the potential of delaying the process of cell death that happens naturally as we age.

The founder of SENS Research Foundation is Aubrey de Grey, a biomedical gerontologist and author of The Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory Of Aging. For over seven years, entrepreneur Jason Hope has been a major contributor to the SENS foundation, acting as a vocal proponent for funding anti-aging research.

In 2010, Jason Hope donated a half a million dollars to the SENS Research Foundation, allowing the foundation to use some of the donations received to start a new research program known as AGE-breaker. The program aims at creating a drug or treatment that is able to break down advanced glycation end products, or AGEs. These glycation end products act as a type of metabolic waste that gradually builds up within the human body and causes harmful side effects leading eventually to degenerative processes which ultimately causes cell death; meaning, people will age at a faster rate. Theoretically, if we can develop new drugs and other forms of treatment that rectify this problem by metabolizing or eliminating these advanced glycation end products, we can slow down, or even stop, the aging process.

In a recent interview on interview.net, Jason Hope states that “there is too little research into these areas in order to develop effective treatment options.” The implications of breakthroughs are too advantageous to pass up. Thanks to sponsors like Jason Hope, these technologies might become an actuality in the near future.

Tony Petrello, CEO of oil and gas drilling company Nabors Industries, is a kind, caring individual and a generous philanthropist. He has given millions of dollars to a variety of charitable causes.

When Yale professor Serge Lang, under whose tutelage and mentorship Petrello had earned his BS and MS in mathematics, died, Tony Petrello gave the school $150,000 to set up a scholarship to memorialize him. When Carena, the daughter Tony Petrello’s wife Cynthia bore him, was born prematurely and was found to have periventricular leukomalacia, New Jersey native Tony Petrello decided to give Texas Children’s Hospital $7 million in support of their efforts to build a facility to study and treat children suffering with neurological problems. In addition to his donation, Tony Petrello and his wife spearheaded the effort to raise the over $200 million needed to create what is known as the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute. Thanks to the efforts of Tony Petrello, Texas Children’s Hospital has the first childhood neurological disorders research center in the world.

When Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area in August 2017, Tony Petrello again showed his love and concern for people facing difficult circumstances. First, he gave large cash donations to a number of the organizations that were in the front line of trying to help victims of the hurricane to survive and get the medical, housing and other types of support they needed. Tony Petrello then matched the about $175,000 in donations employees of Nabors industries gave to hurricane relief efforts. Plus, with the support of CEO Tony Petrello, Nabors Industries created the Nabors Disaster Relief Fund to funnel money to assist people involved in the hands-on work of helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Nabors Industries also used their on-site kitchen to provide the 10% of their workers and the many other people impacted by the hurricane with 3 hot meals daily. This played an important role in helping people survive the devastation the hurricane had rained down on Houston, Texas and the surrounding areas. The assistance Tony Petrello provided to help people in the community survive Hurricane Harvey and begin to rebuild their communities is further evidence of his passion for helping others. He has a decades long track record of providing help to people in need.

Dick DeVos: Achieving Corporate Success

Dick DeVos is one of the most well-known entrepreneurs in the United States. He has been working with several companies, and proved that he can reach the top without the need of his parent’s influence. His first job was with Amway, where he joined in 1974. He held positions in several departments inside the company, including the research and development division, the manufacturing department, the marketing department, and the sales and finance division. Ten years of hard work and perseverance later, Dick DeVos was promoted as the executive vice president. He used his skill in expanding the business overseas, and in a short period of time, the revenue that Amway is making from foreign markets tripled. The sales that the overseas branches of Amway is making accounted for only 5% of the total company sales, but under the leadership of Dick DeVos, it rose to more than 50% of the total company sales. He left Amway after six years of being the company’s vice president.

When the DeVos family acquired the franchise for Orlando Magic, Dick DeVos became one of the owners, as his father split the ownership among his children. He was even chosen to become the president and the chief executive officer of the franchise, but he decided to step down in 1993 because of his decision to return to Amway. Dick DeVos’ father resigned as the company’s president, and he was chosen to succeed him. During his term as the president, Amway focused on foreign markets, and they expanded and started operating in more than 50 countries. Amway went under restructuring and rebranding, creating Alticor. Dick DeVos resigned after the company’s rebranding, and shifted to the Windquest Group serving as its president.

Currently, Dick DeVos is holding a variety of positions in different companies. Aside from being the president of The Windquest Group, he is also serving as: a member of the board of directors at Spectrum Health System; a member of the board of trustees at Health Care Foundation; a member of the board of directors at the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce; the founder and chairman of the West Michigan Aviation Academy; the chairman of the board of directors at the RDV Corporation; one of the governing boards of Orlando Magic; a member of the board of trustees at the Thunderbird School of Global Management; a member of the board of directors at the Willow Creek Association; co-chairman of the Grand Action Committee; and the founder and chairman of the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan.

About Betsy DeVos

I can categorically state that Betsy DeVos is the current secretary of education of the United States. Her confirmation was done on February 7, 2017, by the Senate following her nomination by President Donald J. Trump. She has been involved in various issues regarding education policy for nearly 30 years mostly as children’s advocate and parent’s voice. I also noted that she is deeply concerned with reforms aimed at helping the underserved children to access quality education.

She undertook an in-school mentor role for at-risk students for close to 15 years in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. I understand that it is her interactions with students, teachers, and families during this time that changed her life and her perspective regarding education forever.  Betsy DeVos has since played a leading role in supporting the development of new choices for students in over 25 states and the District of Columbia. Visit Betsy’s profile on twitter.com.

It has also become known to me that before being confirmed as the secretary of education, Betsy DeVos was the chairperson of The Windquest Group, an investment management firm. She has also served on various boards both nationally and locally and also in civic organizations like Kids Hope USA, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Kendall College of Art and Design and Mars Hill Bible Church. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
